Continuing Education and Self-Assessment Linkage Guide

Guide 8: Linking Continuing Education and Self-Evaluation" is a comprehensive resource offered by RECLA to strengthen the management of university continuing education.

This document is the result of a collaborative effort initiated in 2021, focused on self-evaluation and continuous improvement of continuing education units. Through a detailed process that includes stakeholder identification and management, and impact measurement, the guide provides essential and desirable recommendations to ensure the quality and relevance of continuing education programs.

Criterion I

Linking the continuing education unit to its stakeholders

The sustainability of any continuing education unit depends on its ability to meet the needs of its key stakeholders. This criterion emphasizes the identification and management of relationships with individual participants, client organizations and other relevant internal and external stakeholders. The guide offers recommendations for recognizing and addressing their needs, thus ensuring the relevance and continuity of educational programs.

Criterion II

Integral university linkage model

This criterion focuses on the contribution of the continuing education unit to an integral model of linkage with organizations. It seeks to address needs that include talent development, employability, research, consulting, innovation and entrepreneurship. The guide suggests practices to effectively integrate continuing education into the broader mission of the university.

Criterion III

Impact measurement

Measuring the impact of continuing education programs is crucial to evaluate their effectiveness. This criterion addresses the importance of measuring results, including the transfer of learning and its practical application, as well as the effects on the organization and the environment. The guide provides recommendations for implementing measurement systems that reflect the real value of continuing education.
